Steve Kerr Linked to Broadcast Roles as Warriors Tenure Wavers
Steve Kerr could be eyeing a path similar to one taken by a familiar face from his Golden State days.
According to a report from Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel, the longtime Golden State Warriors head coach has recently held meetings with media agents. The interest appears mutual—major NBA broadcast partners including ESPN, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video would all reportedly pursue Kerr if he chooses to step into a television role.
At 60, Kerr has built one of the most successful coaching résumés in modern NBA history. Since taking over in 2014, he has guided Golden State to over 1,100 combined regular-season and playoff wins, along with four championships. But after a 37–45 campaign that ended without a playoff berth, there are signs the partnership may be losing momentum.
Steve Kerr is no stranger to the broadcast world. After ending his playing career, he spent several years as a commentator for TNT from 2003 to 2007. He later stepped away to serve as general manager of the Phoenix Suns, but returned to TNT in 2010, where he covered both NBA games and the NCAA Tournament.
Now, Kerr’s future appears increasingly uncertain. He is not currently under contract for the 2026–27 season, and recent reports have pointed to growing tension between him and the Golden State Warriors—including claims that the organization has limited his public comments.
There are also indications that a split may be looming. Some of Kerr’s own star players are reportedly doubtful that he will return to the sidelines next season.
While opportunities in coaching or front office roles would likely be available to him, Kerr seems to be positioning himself for another pivot—this time back to television, where he already has a proven track record.
