Florida’s Todd Golden Shuts Down Links to Warriors Job
Todd Golden isn’t entertaining any talk about a potential jump to the NBA.
The Florida Gators head coach addressed recent speculation linking him to the Golden State Warriors job, should the franchise move on from Steve Kerr this offseason. When asked about the reports on Wednesday, Golden appeared amused and quickly downplayed the idea.
“I’m definitely planning on coaching the Gators,” he said, shutting the door on the rumors.
Todd Golden was floated as a potential candidate after Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports reported that he could be a top target for the Golden State Warriors. However, those familiar with the situation have expressed strong skepticism about that possibility—and now Golden himself has effectively echoed that sentiment.
Golden has built an impressive résumé at Florida Gators, compiling a 103–41 record over four seasons and leading the program to a national championship in 2025. While the 40-year-old has yet to coach at the NBA level, his success in college has quickly elevated his profile.
As for Golden State, the organization remains in a holding pattern while awaiting a decision from Steve Kerr. With his contract set to expire this summer, Kerr has indicated that he plans to take time before determining his next move.
