Veteran big man Al Horford is set to continue his NBA career with Golden State after agreeing to a two-year deal worth $14 million.

The Golden State Warriors are bringing back veteran center Al Horford after agreeing to a new two-year contract worth $14 million. The deal ensures the five-time NBA All-Star will remain with the franchise as he prepares to enter his 20th season in the NBA.

Horford declined his player option for the 2026-27 season in favor of signing a new fully guaranteed contract. The agreement also reportedly includes a trade kicker, giving the veteran additional financial protection while allowing the Warriors to maintain an experienced presence in their frontcourt.

The 40-year-old joined Golden State last offseason and dealt with several injuries during his first season with the team, including sciatica and a calf strain. Despite those setbacks, Horford proved to be a reliable contributor when healthy.

In 45 regular-season games, including 13 starts, Horford averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. He also continued to stretch opposing defenses with his consistent three-point shooting while providing strong interior defense and veteran leadership.

The Warriors view Horford as an important part of their roster heading into next season. His experience, basketball IQ, and versatility make him a valuable piece alongside the team’s veteran core as Golden State looks to bounce back after an injury-plagued campaign.

Golden State’s championship hopes were impacted last season after Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending ACL injury, limiting the team’s ability to compete at full strength. Originally selected with the third overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, Horford has also played for the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Oklahoma City Thunder. Throughout his career, he has earned five All-Star selections and captured his first NBA championship with the Celtics in 2024.
