Chris Paul Breaks Silence On His Role With Warriors

For the first time since joining the Golden State Warriors, Chris Paul met with NBA reporters on July 9 in Las Vegas. The future Hall of Famer admitted he hasn’t discussed the specifics of his new position with the team or head coach Steve Kerr.

Paul has never played off the bench in his NBA career, but there have been rumors that he might do so for the Warriors.

According to ESPN, Paul stated that basketball is all there is to it. I’m entering a situation with a group of guys that have played together for a very long period. Compared to everyone else, I’m not as concerned about it. … At camp, we’ll work all of that things out. You don’t currently own the solutions. We’ll practice, and I’m sure I’ll have to learn things about them and they’ll have to learn things about me, but that goes for every team.

For the Phoenix Suns, Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc, and 83.1% from the line. For the first time since 2009, CP3 and Stephen Curry exercised together on July 9 in Las Vegas.

There are times when you have the opportunity to think, Paul added. “We were joking even while working out today. Given that he isn’t particularly young either, it is both a fantastic opportunity and a blessing that we are doing this now.

Paul playing for the Warriors will be unexpected. Paul’s fictitious chuckle at Kerr went popular on social media in 2018. Most recently, during a game against the Suns in March, Curry reminded Paul, “This ain’t 2014 no more.”

Paul, meanwhile, is eager to be on the opposing side in his rivalry with the Warriors.

“This is a sport,” Paul declared. “I like it. I get to play basketball every day as part of my employment, which I can claim to be my way of life. If I didn’t enjoy it the way I do, I wouldn’t spend this time practicing, playing, and hooping while away from my family. That won’t alter at all.
