Warriors expected to sign former Chris Paul teammate

Former Phoenix Suns players are being added to the Golden State Warriors’ bingo card.

On his Substack website on Friday, seasoned NBA writer Marc Stein stated that the Warriors are “likely” to sign veteran forward Dario Saric in free agency. Stein does point out that Saric’s one obstacle is that he has only attracted interest for a league-minimum salary and is refusing to sign anything higher.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Saric, then 29 years old, in the lottery that year. He is also well-known for his time with the Suns from 2019 to 23. Chris Paul, the newest Warrior, was his teammate during that time, notably during Phoenix’s journey to the NBA Finals in 2021.

Saric, a 6-foot-10 playmaker with a variety of skills, shot 39.1 percent from outside the arc last year. However, an ACL tear in 2021 has caused him to lose part of his physical prowess.

Saric, however, is a talented supporting player who might provide a low-cost alternative to this bench player who recently left the Warriors.
