By dealing Jordan Poole and draft compensation to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul, a future Hall of Fame point guard, the Golden State Warriors executed a significant move.
It was an odd choice, especially in light of the widespread belief that the Warriors needed to become younger in order to make another attempt at winning the NBA championship.
Poole reportedly unfollowed Warriors forward Draymond Green on Instagram immediately following the trade announcement.
When all the pieces are put together, swapping Poole may not be as shocking as it originally appeared to be.
Prior to this season, Poole and Green got into a well-publicized altercation in which Green punched Poole.
When Green was ready to become a free agency and Poole had just received a hefty contract extension from Golden State, it was thought that Green’s time with the organization was running short.
