Draymond Green, a power forward for the Golden State Warriors, has been named as a player the Boston Celtics should try to trade for this summer by one NBA writer.
Green, according to Tim Crean of ClutchPoints, might help the Celtics succeed next season.
Get a strong, seasoned leader in the building who can hold them accountable and help them win series like the one they just lost to the Heat, Crean wrote, “if the team is going to keep the Brown and Tatum attack intact.”
“It would be ideal if that individual could play several positions while also facilitating the offensive. Where can they locate everything bundled into one? Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has become a trade target for the Celtics, according to Crean.
The Celtics’ desire to get Green is partially driven by the leadership he offers in crucial circumstances like the playoffs. Green will increase the bar by requiring a certain degree of urgency, which has been shown to help spark championship-winning runs.

Green is getting older, much like the other Warriors stars, and the club needs to be younger and more athletic. Golden State can also gain from improved chemistry, as Green’s preseason punch to teammate Jordan Poole seemed to spell the end for the group from the start. Brown and Tatum could certainly use some tough love from a teammate in Boston because Green’s antics will be recent. They won’t be able to perform as mediocrely and halfheartedly as they did in the playoffs this season with Draymond on the team, that much is certain.
Green can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2023-24 player option. The four-time champion averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists this season for the Warriors, who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games.
Most people around the NBA believe Green will decline his player option with the Warriors this offseason and become a free agent. If that happens, the Celtics could sign the former Defensive Player of the Year and not give up any assets to acquire him
