Ayesha and Stephen Curry’s unique baby name explained

Early on in the pregnancy, Ayesha Curry and NBA player Stephen Curry revealed on Instagram that they had welcomed their fourth child.

“Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!! He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”

On May 26, 2024, the couple uploaded a picture of their joint post that included a close-up of the baby’s hand.

The baby’s unique name, Caius Chai, and the fact that he was born on May 11 were also disclosed by the Currys.

Fans of Twilight may immediately associate the first name with Caius, a vampire in the story. Bookworms might also mention Caius from King Lear by Shakespeare. Those who enjoy tea might adore the middle name. However, the newest Curry family member’s name has a deeper significance.

The baby was born two months after Ayesha revealed her pregnancy on the cover of Sweet July, the publication that goes by the same name as her lifestyle brand, in March 2024. She revealed the reasons behind their desire to grow their family by having another child.

“For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done. We said, ‘Three, that’s it, we’re not doing this again,’” she shared. “And then, last year, we looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again. For me, the decision came from always finding myself looking around and feeling like somebody was missing.”

The well-known couple, who got together in their adolescent years in their hometown in North Carolina, is also a parent to son Canon, five, and daughters Riley, eleven, and Ryan, eight.

Ayesha recently spoke with Parents about how hard she and her husband are striving to instill in their children a love of giving back. The two of them founded the Eat. Learn. Play. foundation in 2019.

“I feel like it’s just a part of the way that we’re raising them. It’s a part of the way that we were raised,” she said. “And so, it’s becoming a part of our DNA now, which I think is really important for us to instill in our children so that it can be passed down from generation to generation.”
