The Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and Bay Area businesswoman Ayesha Curry announced the birth of their fourth child, a son called Caius Chai, earlier this month in an Instagram post on Sunday afternoon.
“Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!!” the post read. “He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”
Riley, 11, Ryan, 8, and Canon, 5, are the other three children that the actress, 35, and NBA point guard, 36, have together. Ayesha’s fourth pregnancy was revealed in a March Sweet July Magazine cover story that featured pictures of her growing baby bulge.
“For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done. We said, ‘Three, that’s it, we’re not doing this again,’” Ayesha told the publication, which she founded in 2020. “And then, last year, we looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again.”
The message states that their son was born on May 11.
In an interview with the Associated Press last month, Stephen Curry disclosed that their fourth child—who was due in June—was scheduled to arrive around the time of his Olympic Games debut later this summer. Despite making a surprising appearance at BottleRock Napa Valley on Saturday, when he was seen honing his 3-point form with actor Bradley Cooper while they threw cheesesteaks into the crowd from the food stage, he has been mum about the birth for the past few of weeks.
Ayesha stated in the interview with Sweet July that they decided to have another kid because she could not stop “looking around and feeling like somebody was missing.”
“I would load up the car and think, ‘Oh, I forgot something,’” she said. “But nobody was forgotten. It started to turn my brain a little bit. Maybe somebody was missing. So we set out on this journey, knowing that this would complete our family.”
The couple didn’t begin dating until after they reconnected in Los Angeles, several years after they had met as kids in a church youth group in North Carolina. Since 2011, they have been wed.
