Stephen Curry, Warriors approves Dwight Howard joining the team

Jason Dumas of KRON4 News reported on Wednesday night that free agency center Dwight Howard had a meeting with the Golden State Warriors and would soon train alongside Chris Paul and Draymond Green. Green, who lamented that everything was leaking while effectively confirming the story, appeared to confirm the report:

It appears that Howard might be joining the Warriors sooner rather than later if things continue in this direction. Howard would be the ideal veteran center to supply spot minutes and championship experience because the team has been in need of front court reinforcements.

The seasoned big man can still protect the rim on defense and pose a lob threat on attack even if he is obviously not the same player he once was. Howard should have many chances to convert open shots in comparison to Chris Paul and Steph Curry. Golden State won’t need much from Howard, but if he can protect Draymond Green and Kevon Looney from injury or foul problems, that would be a very useful signing.

Howard has been maintaining his basketball fitness while away from the NBA after spending some time there. The Warriors won’t need much of him, as was already established, but the experienced center protector will serve the exact purpose for which he was hired.
