Steve Kerr gets completely honest about Warriors’ current struggles

One of the worst teams in franchise history, the Warriors team from last season. They won the NBA Championship, but they also had a historically poor road record and occasionally appeared to be beyond disappointing. Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Warriors, is largely to blame for those setbacks.

Steve Kerr was unusually open in his response to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News when she asked him about the Warriors’ troubles in the previous campaign.

“I will say that I feel like I failed last year in connecting the group,” Kerr said. “I have taken a lot of time this summer to think about last year, things I could have and should have done differently. I really believe that sometimes losing sort of forces you to reassess and reevaluate and I’m excited about coming back next year with a renewed focus and energy and spirit from the entire group. And that starts with me and I can’t wait.”

Hearing Steve Kerr accept that much blame for the Warriors’ disappointing season is quite intriguing. Saying that he didn’t facilitate their connection seems to clearly imply that there were chemistry problems from season one that weren’t resolved.

The NBA’s biggest X-Factor team to watch in the next season will be the Golden State Warriors. brand-new players, brand-new chemistry, and Chris Paul, a former All-Star, make up a club that lacks the vital elements of a cohesive team offense.
