Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors discussed the late Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant in a recent interview with BigBoyTV. Curry recalled a unique experience with Kobe and then offered a memorable tale about a praise that resonated with him.
“One of the best compliments I ever got, when [Kobe] recognized that killer instinct behind the smile. You know Mamba Mentality… He acknowledged that same spirit, but knew that I did it with a smile on my face, and the joy that came with it.”
Curry is exactly who he is, so hearing him relate this tale was extremely amazing. Even if he still plays with delight, some people are still duped by it. However, anyone who pays attention to him closely understands he has that deadly instinct. Many of his current and former teammates agreed with this, and Kobe was unmistakably aware of it as well.
Curry’s enthusiasm is part of what makes him so entertaining to watch. Curry is extremely unique in that he can completely control the game while maintaining a positive attitude. Early on, Kobe realized that Curry was unique and that his joyous demeanor on the court didn’t diminish his deadly instinct.
The fact that Curry and Kobe shared this unique moment together shows how much this praise from the Lakers great meant to Curry.
