Klay Thompson strongly reacts to Warriors trading for Chris Paul

Klay Thompson, a four-time NBA champion, is eager to team up with Chris Paul, a potential Hall of Famer, on the Golden State Warriors.

Playing with Paul, one of the best point guards in NBA history, will be a seamless transition for Thompson, he told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“Any time you get to play with a player who is one of the best of your generation it’s an honor,” Thompson said. “It’s a little weird because we’ve had so many battles in the past with Chris, and he’s led so many teams that nearly knocked us off or did knock us off all the way back in 2014. I think he’s just going to add such a calming presence and leadership component that we need.

“I know Steph and him have a long history together being both from North Carolina. For me, it’s going to be a smooth transition playing with such a passer and playmaker, I’m just excited.”

Paul was acquired by the Warriors in the Jordan Poole deal from the Washington Wizards. For the Phoenix Suns last season, CP3 averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists while shooting 44.0% from the field, 37.5% from beyond the arc, and 83.1% from the line.

In the Bradley Beal trade, the Suns sent Paul to the Wizards, who then sent him to Golden State. Phoenix traded Paul when he was traveling to New York on a plane. When the Dubs acquired him, he was then participating in basketball at his gym in North Carolina.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Thompson, and Paul are currently the Warriors’ four future Hall of Famers. The number of games Golden State wins in the upcoming season will be incredibly interesting to watch.

Paul is no longer an NBA superstar at the age of 38. With the Warriors, he can concentrate on passing because Curry, Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins will be the main scorers.
