Warriors are reportedly interested in Brook Lopez

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN claims that the Warriors & Rockets are a “real threat” to the Bucks in their pursuit of veteran center Brook Lopez (h/t ClutchFans.com).

Lopez’s four-year, $52M deal ended at the end of the season, therefore he is now eligible for unrestricted free agency. The 35-year-old Lopez is still among the best performers at his position. This past season, he started 78 games and averaged 15.9 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and a career-high 2.5 BPG. Furthermore, he converted 37.4% of his 3-point tries.

Prior reports have mentioned Houston’s interest in Lopez. Alperen Sengun, a 20-year-old first-round pick of the Rockets, is their center, but Lopez could also mentor Houston’s young frontcourt bigs while bolstering its defense and opening up the field offensively.

Warriors Interested in Brook Lopez

There has been numerous reports around the league that the Golden State Warriors are highly interested in acquiring the Big man. One Warrior fan on Reddit listed all the reasons Warriors should ensure this deal happens.

“The FO should do everything they can to sign Lopez. He fits this team perfectly and would solve a lot of problems”

  1. He can stretch the floor shooting 37.5% from 3 on 4.7 attempts per game. Dray and Looney are borderline unplayable together during the playoffs. The addition of Lopez wouldn’t allow teams to pack the paint
  2. He was 2nd in DPOY voting this year. His size will allow the warriors to match up against bigger teams and finally give the Warriors a rim protector. Warriors would potentially have a top 3 defense in the league with the addition of Lopez.

With the new CBA, not sure how feasible it is to sign him with him being a free agent if any cap experts want to help out.
