Report: Warriors could trade Jordan Poole for Knicks’ RJ Barrett

Jordan Poole struggled a lot in the 2023 NBA playoffs after last year, when he was an important part of the Golden State Warriors. At times, his frigid spells were so severe that head coach Steve Kerr was forced to sit him. Over the course of 13 games, he scored 10.3 points on 34.3% of his field goal attempts.

The Warriors are worried about his performance because they recently awarded him a significant contract extension. His four-year, $128 million contract will officially begin the next year.

The largest contributing factor to his difficulties may have been the incident he had with Draymond Green at the beginning of the year. The rookie guard might be the odd man out this summer because the Warriors still believe they can challenge for titles.

The Warriors may be open to calls regarding Poole if he wants to break his contract. Golden State might deal him to the New York Knicks in exchange for RJ Barrett, according to one trade theory.

This kind of action could be advantageous to both parties. Another former first-round pick who still has the ability to be a strong player will be played by the Warriors. Similar action was taken when they brought in Andrew Wiggins, and it was very successful for them.

The Knicks now have a guard who can score frequently to pair with Jalen Brunson. The two may provide the Knicks a dynamic offense because they are both capable of creating shots.

Two years ago, Poole showed a lot of promise, and that player might still be there. Going to a place like New York might be advantageous for him. He would have a fresh start while still having the opportunity to play with a successful point guard who can bring out the best in him. The Knicks might be ready to take a chance on his potential despite the high cost.
