The Golden State Warriors’ last three games have all been more significant than the previous one. To end the regular season, they played the Los Angeles Clippers and lost, cementing their status as a play-in team. They won Game 1 against the Houston Rockets after defeating the Memphis Grizzlies to progress in the play-in.
Despite being healthy, Jonathan Kuminga did not play in any of the three games.
Nobody is anticipating that he will return to The Bay for the upcoming season because his contract expires at the end of this one.
Even if it’s obvious that the player and the franchise desire to take a different route, the Warriors have the ability to match any offer he receives from another team and give him a higher salary than anybody else because he is a restricted free agency.
Although his 3-point shooting has limited him, Kuminga is athletic and a good defender. As a trade candidate, he should still be somewhat valuable.
However, Golden State will find it difficult to demand a huge price in a potential transaction given his obvious mistrust and discontent with the Warriors’ management, and a young team on the rise is unlikely to be able to offer Kuminga many assets.
This offseason, Kuminga is anticipated to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets, according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report.
Even though Golden State would love to acquire Nic Claxton or Cameron Johnson, the truth is that, if all goes according to plan, they will only receive a few second-round selections and perhaps a role-player to match salary.
The Warriors would have kept him on the field until the very end if they had been worried about his trade worth, but they are focused on winning a championship and would stop at nothing to get there, even if it means devaluing a once-key player.
