The Golden State Warriors have lost two games in a row, despite having double-digit leads, which is quite disappointing. They wasted an 18-point lead against the Brooklyn Nets Friday night after blowing a 17-point lead against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.
Following the game, Kerr talked about the consecutive collapses.
“Felt like we lost juice again,” Kerr said. “Not a lot of energy. Not a lot of force.”
The Golden State Warriors were the Western Conference’s overwhelming number one seed only a few days ago. The squad has now dropped three of its last five games in the last week. In any case, Kerr is aware that it’s important to take the defeats seriously without going overboard.
“You don’t want to overreact, right?” Kerr said. “Two games ago, everyone was feeling great. We were 12-3. We’ve had big leads in late third in both games. We have to address what’s happened in these last two games. I don’t think it’s a fatigue thing. I think it’s an execution thing.”
On Monday night, the Brooklyn Nets, who were very thin, outscored the Golden State Warriors by 41 points in the fourth quarter. The team simply needs to use it as a teaching moment, even if it is unacceptable for any championship team to act in that way. The Warriors are more aware than anybody else that every team experiences setbacks and that what important is learning from them.
