With a 10-3 season record, the Golden State Warriors presently hold the second-best record in the Western Conference. Golden State has accomplished this in spite of the absence of several important players, such as starting shooting guard De’Anthony Melton.
After experimenting with several starting lineups early in the season, Steve Kerr decided to start Melton as his shooting guard. The Warriors formally announced Milton’s ACL sprain, which limited him to just two games in the starting lineup.
Via Warriors PR: “Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton has a sprained left ACL and will undergo further tests. He will not play in tomorrow night’s game against the Grizzlies and an update on his status will be provided when available.”
During an appearance on the Willard and Dibs Show, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has subsequently made a troubling revelation regarding Melton’s injury.
“He’s been seeking other opinions,” Kerr said. “We’ve really been evaluating everything just trying to get him the best advice he can get. And we’re obviously very concerned… We’re really taking our time and making sure De’Anthony gets all of the advice he needs.”
According to Kerr, the Warriors are extremely worried about Melton’s recovery and are making sure he follows the right protocol. Any ACL injury is enough for concern. Golden State will continue to rely on their depth in the interim.
