On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors will play a repeat of the 2022 NBA Finals. Since that series, both teams have made some major roster changes, but each team still has a number of players left.
Draymond Green, a forward for the Warriors, played a key role in both that Finals series and the 2022 postseason. Frequently assigned to some of the most difficult defensive duties, Green made a significant contribution that postseason.
In the 2022 Finals, the Warriors effectively contained Jayson Tatum, limiting him to only 36.7% shooting over six games. Since then, Tatum has developed, and last season he helped the Celtics win an NBA title.
Before Wednesday’s game, Green responded to a question about Tatum by saying the Celtics star is driven.
“He’s motivated,” Green said. “He’s playing great basketball. He’s motivated. He’s living up to who he’s supposed to be.”
Tatum is averaging 30.0 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 5.1 assists per game in eight games thus far this NBA season. Tatum is off to a great start to the season, converting on a career-high 48.1% of his field goal attempts.
Given that both the Warriors and the Celtics have only suffered one loss thus far this season, Wednesday’s game will pit two of the NBA’s best teams against one another.
