Klay Thompson leaves emotional farewell message to Bay Area

Having played with the Golden State Warriors for 13 seasons, Klay Thompson is finally letting go and saying goodbye.

In a tearful Instagram post on Friday, Thompson thanked the Warriors organization and their supporters for his incredibly successful time there. A collection of images and videos from his Golden State tenure were included with the message.

“Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about y’all,” Thompson wrote. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. My family and I would like to thank all of the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the @warriors organization world-class. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out.”

Regarding his legacy with the Warriors, Thompson need not worry. He was a vital component of the group’s dynasty and played on four NBA championship teams. The franchise has previously declared that it will eventually retire his No. 11.

He is undoubtedly still very much in love with the Warriors, even if he will play for the Dallas Mavericks in the upcoming season. As Thompson’s tenure with the Warriors came to an end, there was undoubtedly some friction between him and the organization. Based on this communication, it appears like there won’t be any lasting resentment.
